Proverbs 11:3
1. Think about leaders in your past or present that you deeply admire. Did they lead by serving? How did that make you feel as someone under their authority?
2. In the message, Andy says that he would rather follow an elected official who had moral authority but held different political beliefs than an elected official who held similar beliefs but lacked integrity. How does this challenge the way you think about politics? How would your thinking change if you filtered politics though your faith?
3. Read Ephesians 2:13. In light of this verse about unity in Christ, what responsibility do you have regarding the ways in which you interact with people who hold different political beliefs from your own?
4. Read Matthew 5:44-45. How would the American political landscape be transformed if Christians throughout the country took Jesus’ command to heart? What is one practical step you can take to live out his command?
5. Whether at work, in your family, or at church, think about areas of your life in which you lead others. Is your authority only positional, or do you have moral authority?
6. What is one thing you can do this week to strengthen or begin to establish moral authority in your leadership roles?
